Paul W. Spooner Community Room at MWRTA

On February 12, 2024, the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority dedicated a new meeting room to Paul Spooner. MWCIL staff who attended were touched by the new Paul W. Spooner Community Room and the plaque.

MWRTA Administrator, Jim Nee, MWCIL Executive Director Sadie Simone, and Paul’s partner, Wini McGraw spoke about Paul’s contributions. Susan Nicholl, staff for Senate President Karen Spilka presented Jim with a citation. State Representative Jack Lewis also share his thoughts on Paul.

Nationally recognized as a leader, teacher, and warrior of equal rights for people with disabilities, Paul’s impact on those who knew him in the MetroWest Community was immeasurable.

His fortitude, commitment, and relentless efforts to make inclusion in daily living accessible to everyone will not soon be forgotten.

Paul’s contribution to the founding and development of the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority will continue to ensure that we all remember that inequity anywhere, is a threat to equal rights everywhere.
