Computer Recycling Program
MWCIL has had a Computer Recycling program for several years. Donated computers are refurbished here at MetroWest Center for Independent Living and given out free to qualified consumers. Contact us if you have equipment to donate, or if you need a computer. Guidelines for both donors and recipients are below.
Donors - call 508-875-7853
- We accept donations from individuals, businesses and organizations.
- Donations qualify as charitable gifts on your taxes. Ask us for a receipt.
- All donated equipment must be 3 years old or newer, and in working condition.
- Working computer systems with the operating system software installed are our favorite donation. We accept both desktop systems and laptop systems.
- We accept working printers.
- We accept working scanners, external hard drives, and dvd drives.
- Wireless routers, mice, keyboards, monitors, and power packs for laptops are needed.
- Software donations are also appreciatively accepted.
Recipients
- Each consumer, our Computer Teacher and an IL Coordinator determine eligibility on an individual basis.
- Consumers may take computer classes at MWCIL (or elsewhere) to improve their computer skills.
- Qualified consumers must have a use or need for a computer.
- Consumers can work with our Computer Teacher and his/her IL Coordinator to figure out an internet solution for their home.
- Recipients are responsible for correctly setting up their system. For example, surge protectors are highly recommended to protect the systems. MWCIL Computer Classes include proper setup information.
