With federal budget cuts looming over our heads, advocates showed appreciation for our MA policies and services by thanking both legislators and Governor Charlie Baker. We also continued to advocate for the Act to Align MA Architectural Access Board (AAB) regulations with the ADA. In 2016, the Senate passed it unanimously, but the House did not vote. See the MASICL webpage for details from the day.
In 2016, we have made a strong push to Align MA AAB regulations with the ADA. This bill has been considered for over 10 years, and would bring MA in compliance with federal standards. It passed the Senate (S1323), but not yet in the House.
A key priority for 2015 is to increase housing via the Alternative Housing Voucher program. We also advocated to restore 9C cuts to IL, Align MA AAB regulations with the ADA, to support a Jobs bill and expand Assistive Technology.
The 2014 priorities were to increase funding for the IL Centers, for accessible housing, and to fund the new Durable Medical Equipment ReUse Program.
