Computer Classes
The Computer Lab is open to students on Fridays from 10-4 by appointment with the instructor.
Curriculum
Any MWCIL consumer may take a computer course in conjunction with their goals (such as vocational or communication). The computer teacher and the consumer together will assess the consumer's computer skills to determine appropriate classes. Curriculums are listed below. The computer lab is located at the MetroWest Center for Independent Living.- Basic Computer Course - The Basic Computer course covers the main components of the Windows desktop. This course runs for 6 weeks on Mondays from 10-12 or from 1:30 to 3:30.

- Customizing the desktop by creating shortcuts
- Recycle bin
- Independent projects
- Internet and Email - Communicating online and navigating the internet are the subjects of the Internet and Email Course. This course runs for 6 weeks on Tuesdays from 10 - 12 or from 1:30-3:30.
- Internet service providers and browsers
- The home page and favorites
- How to search for information
- Email accounts
- Sending attachments
- Social Networking
- Word Level 1 - Using MSWord, students learn the basic functions of word processing. Classes in MSWord Level 1 run for 4 weeks on Wednesdays from 10 - 12.
- Learning the application program
- Understanding the toolbars
- Creating files
- Modifying and printing files
- MS EXCEL Level 1 - The basic spreadsheet functions are covered using MS EXCEL. Classes run for 4 weeks on Thursdays from 10 - 12.
